These trousers arrive immaculately presented and look and feel good quality as you would expect £95 trousers to be.

Now I’m a curvy size 12. I’m 5’7 tall and weight 10 stone 12lbs so ordered my usual size 12.

These fitted perfectly everywhere except the waist band. This is indicant to designer wear that their sizes are either bang on or run small especially noticeable if you have curves. If you are an athletic size 12 they should fit perfectly.

But the material has lots of stretch in it so I could do it up.

I wore them for a short time but because the hook & eye isn’t backed with fabric it dug into me and became painful. The hook prong actually sticks out quite a bit. I hope you can see that in my photos.

I then tried to take them off. The zip was so stiff and didn’t run smoothly at all. Not what you expect for the quality and price. The problem is where the zip has to run over the thick waistband. I’ve photographed that too. I’ve also videoed me trying to undo the zip. The only way to get them off in the end was using wd40. As you can see by my video they didn’t look too tight on me and had plenty of stretch to them.

A size 14 absolutely would have been too big on me.

So for the money I wasn’t impressed with the zip and hook & eye. I hope my photos have helped to compare sizes ☺️

I must confess I would never spend £95 on a pair of trousers but, seeing as how I got these to review, I accepted them. My wife is a size 14 and found them to be a very comfortable fit, with them being quite spacious at the top with the legs being tapered and quite narrow, so please bear that in mind if you have chunky legs! They have a zipper opening at the side but not where the fly region is. I found it kind of weird that the trousers have NO POCKETS which was quite an oversight, I thought. The material is very nice, however, and does not irritate the skin, which, to be fair, you would hope after spending £95 on trousers. The Ted Baker label is very small and only to be found on the inside waist (see picture one). One last thought, they are a bit figure hugging so larger ladies might prefer to go up a size compared to their usual.

From the first moment when you first receive these Ted Baker Calya trousers and you open the packet and remove the tissue paper, it is immediately apparent that you have received a pair of quality ladies trousers in the best traditions of the house. However, they are also quite a particular pair and there a few things you should know about them before you buy. First of all the material is a really good Cotton (96%) which feels great against the skin and is truly breathable. The other 4% is Elastane and this offers a clue to the fit-these trousers are tailored to be skinny in the first place and the elastane adds to the figure hugging quality. The result is a trouser which hugs the legs and hips showing off their shape to the very best effect but they are also reveal any lumps and bumps! The side zip fastening and the elasticated waistline means these also hug the tummy and render it unecessary, and indeed undesirable, to wear a belt. The material has a bit of weight about it and in the British climate could well work all the way from Spring to late Autumn. The Navy colour is true and very even in tone making the perfect companion for red, white or yellow garments. The trousers are machine washable at 30 degrees.
These trousers will look fabulous with smart outdoor clothes like a good quality white polo shirt or a very light casual jacket and they certainly demand to be worn when you want to look both sporty and smart at the same time-perhaps an outdoor party or a meal at an al fresco restaurant. My wife is happier with these trousers than any she has acquired for a long time-the size is perfect for her 10 figure and offer an equal measure of style and comfort. Strongly recommended if this style suits you.

Ordered these trousers in a size ten they are true to size and fit someone who takes a ten UK well. The quality and fabric is pretty good, slightly thicker than some 95% cotton trousers and good for cooler weather. They compliment the wearer being slim fit rather than skinny and the seam detailing on the leg seems to give the legs a longer look. They have a Side zip and no pockets so loose that bulkyness that pockets can sometimes bring. The navy colour goes especially well with lighter coloured tops. They can be machine washed on a low cycle or dry cleaned. They are on the pricey side partly with being Ted Baker but also because they are great quality.
