Does the job It’s supposed to be my only quip is that it is a little bit on the flimsy side and a bit of a pain in the arse to roll up after use other than that it’s a good long functioning extension lead
I ordered this item and it arrived within a few days, which was great. It was much more compact than I thought it would be and not too difficult to carry around. The only problem and the reason this item only gets 4 stars is that it is rather a pain to rewind after use. I am not sure if this is because it needs to be used more frequently in order to get out all the kinks, or because I just want it to be easy to use, but it does mean that instead of using it every day as originally intended I will only use it now for one off applications. The only other comment, and this is not a complaint, is that I wish manufacturers of this item would do a 60m reel.
I needed an extra long cable to stretch to bottom of garden, The carrying handle is very useful. This is well made good quality and does the job. It is easy to wind back up and has the bonus of 4 socket so is very adaptable. This was by far the best value cable at £40, (there are cheaper makes, but they all report faults with the sockets after a few weeks). . It is important to note The cable can only be used at full power when it is fully unwound (This is due to laws of physic where coiled cable heats up when wound in a spiral and a high current is passed through!). The cable has a safety cut out to prevent it overheating. The only disadvantage is that I would have preferred a higher visability cable colour for garden use, it also needs an additional rcd for protection if used outside.
This may not be the cheapest 50 metre extension cable but it is certainly the best I have had as it is made from robust materials which makes it easy to wind up and store. I use it primarily for hedge cutting (1KW) and with an electric chainsaw (2KW). I have used as many as three of these cables all linked up and it shows how good they are, because even with that length of cable it still delivers enough juice at the end to do the work. For this heavy work it needs to be fully extended or you will melt the calbe but for lesser jobs like running a computer and projector it can cope while still partially wound.
